Say Yes August 14th 2010

Now fully settled into their new home at The Drop, Nadia Ksaiba, Rory Phillips and Thomas Whitehead return to the party basement for their monthly dance affair, fast becoming an East London institution. This month they are pleased to welcome back Matt Waites, who, as Moscow has released a string of excellent 12” on Low recordings, Endless Flight and remixes for In Flagranti and The Chap as well as recording material with Nadia as G&S, not only is he a super talented producer, he’s one of the best DJs around too. You can expect to hear a wild and wonderful celebration of genres from disco, post punk, early house and beyond, accompanied by a suitably wild visual mix constructed each month by resident DJ and designer Thomas Whitehead.
Say Yes – 10th July 2010

Now fully settled into their new home at The Drop, Nadia Ksaiba (Our Disco), Rory Phillips (Our Disco/Durrr) and Thomas Whitehead (Savage Beach) return to the party basement for their monthly dance party, fast becoming an East London institution. Whether road testing new material and custom edits from their studios, or unearthing gems from the dustier ends of their record collections, you can expect to hear a wild and wonderful celebration of genres from disco, post punk, early house and beyond, accompanied by a suitably wild visual mix constructed each month by resident DJ and designer Thomas Whitehead.
KRIKOR AT SAY YES

Say Yes’ monthly residency at the Drop returns for what promises to be another spectacular dance off. With a soundtrack spanning a wild and wonderful spectrum of genres and special guest DJ Krikor (Paris) alongside residents Nadia Ksaiba and Thomas Whitehead. Krikor Kouchian has released a string of 12″s over the past decade for various labels including Kill the DJ, Tigersushi and Dirty with his edit of Q Lazzarus – Good Bye Horses, the final track on Silence of the Lambs, a long lost forgotten gem.
Krikor has released records from Pilooski on his own label Omerta Registrazione and remixed many tracks including Ark and Chloe (who he collabrates with as Plein Soleil, releasing records on Playhouse.) His Debut album “Land of Truth”, released as Krikor and the Dead Hillbillies confounds expectations of rockabilly revivalism, instead giving an insight into days holed up in The Conservatoire de Paris studying composition. Singles (and proven Say Yes dance floor hits) ‘God will Break it All’ and ‘Crackboy” display the perfect mix of all the best bits of music, much like his DJ sets comprising of plenty of the early house, vintage drum machines, minimal and industrial sounds we love so much.

NEXT PARTY ANNOUNCED! 28th NOVEMBER!

Riding high on the back of our roadblocked Halloween party and looking to up the game even further for our last party of the year, we bow out in style, and in honor of being joined by Stevie Kotey of Bear Funk Records – a fave DJ and producer of the Say Yes team having released killer 12″ from the likes of Lindstrom, Altz, Idjut boys and Max Essa and many other Say Yes favourites.
Stevie’s DJ sets are as diverse as his releases; ranging from all corners of dance – from Balearic to acid house and disco, and highly acclaimed mixes for Bear Funk and Strutt. His own productions never fail to disappoint – releasing under his own name; many aliases (Afrobutt’s, The big bear) and as the touring DJ of the awesome Chicken Lips.

Nadia and Thomas have an argument about krautrock

Whilst Thomas was making the new flyer, he noticed that we said that we played Kraut music and stared to argue that we should take it off, because he doesn’t think we do play Krautrock music. Then launched into some boring beard description about Kraut music, although when me and Rory refer to Kraut… we mean Kraut as in ‘elektronik Kling Klang music, but we made that up, so that would look shit on the flyer
Anyway so here is our Now ‘That’s what i call Kraut’ spotify play list… enjoy…
